Julian pulled his Maserati GranTurismo into the valet circle, punched it in park, and climbed out before the valet opened the door. He gave the young man his keys and a hundred without a word, grabbed his portfolio out of the door’s side pocket, and met Bradley by the front entrance.

The fifteen-minute ride from Bradley’s apartment to their destination had been enough to crack even his resolve. Tension rolled off Bradley, thick, palpable, and left him feeling uneasy in his own car. He might deserve the harsh treatment. After all, he wasn’t easy on the man when it came to shipping him home.

But it didn’t make him any more confident in what he was about to discuss over lunch.

Julian gave his name to the maître d’ and motioned for Bradley to follow the gentleman as they were seated in a semi-private corner table with a corner view of the bay.

He took a long moment to look over Bradley. The neat and tidy man was nothing like the raw and sexy man that had opened the apartment door. Julian made two quick opinions. One, he rather liked Bradley unshaven with mussed hair. Two, the less clothes, the better. The man sat in his chair, obviously uncomfortable with his hair neatly combed back, his jaw clean of bristles, and his dark-gray button-down shirt restraining his bulky form. His clothing didn’t fit him as well as Julian would have liked, simply because he enjoyed observing Bradley’s shape and strength. This particular getup was too loose around the waist, too loose around the legs.

My tailor would make you look irresistible.

“You’re staring at me,” Bradley said, turning the menu over. He never looked up. “What’s not up to your standards?”

“I see nothing wrong with my company. I’d suggest you learn to be comfortable in your skin.”

Bradley scowled over the menu and only looked up when the server arrived. Julian held up his hand before Bradley got a word out.

“Bottle of red. Your best,” Julian ordered. The server nodded and left after he rambled off the specials. When Julian turned his attention back to Bradley, the man glowered at him. “Are you expecting me to ask what is wrong?”

“Let’s get one thing straight, Mr. Stark. The only reason I’m here is because you want to discuss business, whatever that might be. I am not here to be your piss-on sub. You had your night and thanked me graciously for it.” Bradley pushed his menu to the side. “I don’t do wine. I do beer or whiskey. Therefore, I’ll order myself a drink of my choosing. If you don’t like it, then I’ll hail a cab out of here real fast.”

Julian leaned back in his chair, regarding this man with renewed interest. He was hard shelled, but his eyes told a different story.

He wanted to know that story, and he’d break the man to get to the soft spot.

“No, Bradley. You won’t.” Julian tapped the portfolio on the corner of the table. “I have an offer for you.
